06 GOOD OAK CRANKIE

Using an old storytelling art form called a crankie, members of the Boston-based Bodywave collective cut scenery onto a hand-cranked scroll, and developed over 30 shadow puppets to cast dynamic silhouettes while moving through the social and environmental history of one ancient tree.

07 WAYFINDING AT MDRS

The Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS) is a full-scale analog facility in Utah that supports Earth-based research in pursuit of the knowledge required for human space exploration. The terrain around MDRS is a geologic analog for Mars. This  project helps visitors find their way without disrupting simulations in progress.

08 LANDFILL TO PARK

At 2,200 acres, Freshkills Park is almost three times the size of Central Park and the largest park to be developed in New York City in over 100 years. It also has a significant history as the site of the Fresh Kills Landfill, which was the largest landfill in the world before closing in 2001. This body of work examines the culural implications of adaptive reuse.
